Systematic Giving

READINGS: 2 Corinthians 9:5-11; 1 Corinthians 16:1-2
TEXT: .... . enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which causeth
through us thanksgiving to God (9:11).

Introduction
Can a Christian give sacrificially and save money? This subject is of utmost importance to all Christians. Have you ever stopped to consider how many hours you spend in a day in the business of making money? What we do with it, our approach and attitude to it, is a top priority. Our concern here relates to the ministry of giving.

I. The Motive in Giving (9:11)
1) Pleasing God (Heb. 13:16)
2) Honoring God (Prov. 3:9)

II. The Method in Giving (Mal. 3:10)
1) Tithes (Mal. 3:10)
2) Offerings (9:11)
3) Savings (2 Cor. 12:14)
4) Expenses (Rom. 12:17; 13:7-8)

III. The Miracle in Giving (9:8)
1) Materially (9:8-11)
2) Spiritually (Gal. 6:7-8)

Conclusion
Remember the motive in giving: to please and honor God. As to the method, remember He demands the tithe, He deserves the offering, He defends the savings, and He directs the expenses. The miracle is that God will prosper you sufficiently for you to be content. He may even make you the steward of great wealth. Certainly He will bless you, spiritually.
